Can You Get Pregnant On The Patch
Ive been on ortho evra for almost 2 yrs now. I recently started sleeping wit an ex again. We had relations while I was on my week off last month ( so no patch was on me.) I started my new week on the day I was supposed to. I was supposed to take my patch off this last week but instead I put an extra patch on when (4th patch on my week off) I haven't bled at all during this past week. I took off the 4th patch today (sunday) so my question is if I didn't bleed last week n I don't bleed this week could that mean im pregnant??
I went on a trip to the dominucan with my boyfriend in february 2012 and was due to get my period the day we left. Which I definitely did not want! So I talk to my doctor and she prescribed me 3 weeks of evra to delay my period.

I only started it 5days before my trip and started the 2nd week while there. I stopped it as soon as we got back. I got my period a few days later but it was so light it was more like a bit of spotting.(my doctor told me my period would go back to normal after removing it.) Now I'm 7 days late.
I'm wondering if I could be pregnant. We weren't using any other form of birth control. The evra instructions says it'll protect against pregnancy 7 days after u start it(I was only on it for 5) but than I've heard you should complete a whole month to be safe from pregnancy.Any thoughts or information regarding this would be greatly appreciated! The Dr gave that to you to prevent a period, not for birth control. If you didnt use any back up there is a pretty good chance that you could be pregnant. Protection starts Day 1 IF you start it in the first 24 hours of starting your period.

You started well before your period started, if I understand correctly, so it should not have been relied on for contraception in this short period of time. In your case, it probably should have been used for at least a month before relying on it for birth control. Since you started it before your period, you have no idea if it prevented ovulation or not. These hormones do affect your cycle though.
Ways You Can Get Pregnant
If I'm reading this right, you did have a period while you were on vacation? And spotting once you stopped it?
It may just be that your cycle is off, if you are lucky. You can take a pregnancy test at this point if it has been a month since the last period and it should be pretty accurate. That way you know and can stop wondering. If you and your boyfriend are sexually active, and you are not already pregnant, then I suggest you talk to your Dr about a method of birth control. If you liked the patch, it is a good method when used properly or the Pill is a good option too-they are similar in their effects.

One is delivered through pill form and the other through the skin but other than delivery systems, they are very similar in the way that they work. You do have to follow directions closely for optimal protection. I got a very light period feb 22 after removing the patch(could've been implantation bleeding or something tho.)I wasn't taking it for birth control but just to delay my period. My boyfriend and I aren't actively trying to conceive yet but were both ready should I become pregnant!:) my daughter is going to be 2 in June so I'm ready for the next one!! Which is why I'm not on any birth control.I appreciate the inputs/information! I was figuring There's a decent chance I am but was going to give it a few more days before taking a test to see if it came. Plus I've got a drs apt in 9 days. Thanks again!
