Here's what I got.FICVL13P4-865SOCKET 478INTEL PENTIUM 4 3.0 GHZ PROCESSOR AT 800 FSBATXPC-3200 DDR RAM4 ddr2s slots5 pci slots1 agp slotnumbers i found on the board.CVL3A00774VL13PE-LPhoenix Bios 008126099Numbers by the Intel chip: D33007Numbers on the ICH5R chip:FW82801ERF3190290SL742Intel PhilipinesHere's what I found. Just doesn't seem to match up. (need an expert from here to confirm my guess)Found a manual hereI found this at:My worry is that my board is actually older then what i found above and there's nothing for it anywhere anymore. Did my best looking.Help? They look pretty close to identical!I note in your photo that one memory module has a different heat spreader. Hope that all modules are identical, or at least the one with the red shield is the slower module, in 'Bank 0 Slot 0'!
If a faster module is first detected, it can improperly set the timing base of other slower modules. And module #2 in the first bank doesn't have a heat spreader? If your mobo has different color memory slots, then likely it is dual-channel setup. Where modules installed should be identical for each pair in both banks.
Brand-name doesn't matter. It is the timings and amount that should be identical.
I would go to and purchase the Everest Ultimate Diagnostics program. It is well worth having!
It can detail all those secrets of a computer setup, including the SPD factor of each memory module. And what timings are intended, plus what are in effect. IRQ, DMA assignments, IP addresses, et al!it is a must-have for a serious computer user and tinkerer! There is another similar program, called PC Wizard from which is freeware, but the authors would appreciate a contribution to keep it so.You could legally copy the program(s) to a mini-CD, for use on multiple systems.
As long as it is not installed on each! Offers SiSoft Sandra, which is a very nice diagnostics/testing program, also. Hey Karlsweldt, gonna actually check out that Diagnostics program you wrote about above.evasive, thanks a million for those links!!!But, I got another question now that I've been made aware of the memory module problem.the red heat spreader says, 512mb ddr pc3200 400mhzthe one with no heat spreader says, 512mb ddr dimm q64wqd (po# 117687)Now those together should make up 1gig.The two with blue heat spreaders are identicle as you guessed Karlsweldt. They say, Kington khx3200ak2/1gr, 'hyperx', 99c51 2.6vthere's two of those. Now shouldn't that make up 2 gigs? Now, to a dumb tech like me, i would think it should read a total of 3 gigs. What do I know.
(so I go to motherboards.org )But after what Karlsweldt explainned, now I understand why it reads only 2gigs. And yes, it looks like these are all Dual's.ok, so, i took the two older ones out. (red heat spreader and one without)Then placed the two Kington's in banks 0 and 1.The computer is reading only 1gig.Am I reading the specs on those kington's incorrectly? They each don't say '512mb' like the two older ones. And yes, Karlsweldt is right when he guessed 'If your mobo has different color memory slots'With what I got, can anyone suggest anything to me at this point, or should i just go out and buy a whole new set? Becuase this board can go up to 4gig's max and I think I'd like to do that anyways.
