Install Windows Xp To Compact Flash
Flash Player For Windows Xp
Andre,Thanks for responding. Actually I noticed that I am able to respond to the question through Edge but on Firefox the Microsoft Community Pages just keep loading.
I see the rotating icon but the page never loads. I don't have ad blockers activated on thereeither. As far as another PC I don't have access to one. When I open disk management, I think (?) it is there. I have a 1TB HD and the Compact Flash is 40MB.
I see the OS C:/ and recover partition. I also see Disk 0 partition 1 which says it is a healthy OEMpartition but is 39MB which would suggest it is the card. The type is Basic but under File System it is blank. If I right click it the only option is help. Please let me know if there is anything else I can answer for you. Thanks again. Andre,Here is everything I have tried so far today.I do not have a different CF card to try. According to the troubleshooter the hardware for the cardreader is working properly.I do have an external USB adapter cable for the card.
It is listed in my PC as SCM Micro USBAT-02. That used to work fine as well. Roblox games.
Install Xp On Windows 10
The computer says the drivers for this device are not installed and there are no compatible drivers for this device.I went to Dell's site and installed the most up to date drivers for removable storage. No success.I tried the cable on my wife's computer as she does not have a compact flash card slot but I connected the USB cable. Same result, no drivers found. Thanks for responding. Could you check if the copper contacts on the compact flash card are clean? Also try running the hardware troubleshooter Open Start Settings Update & security Troubleshoot scroll down to Hardware devices. Select Hardware devices Click Run the TroubleshooterWhen complete, restart then check if it shows up or not. Also, browse Device Manager to see if it shows up as an unknown device or under memory technologies.Best, Andre Windows Insider MVP MVP-Windows and Devices for IT twitter/adacosta groovypost.com.
When I look at the flash card itself I just see two rows of many holes. When I plug the card into the camera it is recognized and I can take pictures.I ran the troubleshooter and it said that it couldn't identify the problem. I restarted and same result. When the card is in the reader on the desktop I do not see it at all. It shows CF/MD card under disk drives and properties says the device is working properly. I do not see a listing for memory technologies. If I plug the card into the USB cable and plug it into the tower the SCM micro I referred to shows up in other devices with a yellow triangle and exclamation point on it. When I right click properties it says.
Using Compact Flash As Hard Drive
Thanks for continuing to help with this one.Actually that was one of the first things I did. As mentioned in a previous post it comes up as SCM Micro USBAT-02. Windows Update has found no compatible drivers for the cable. I still have no idea why the card reader itself won't read the card whenthe camera does. The cable would at least allow me to get around the card reader. The only place that I seem to find ANY drivers is on a site called driversguide.com. I have never heard of it and do not know how reliable it is.
The SCM Microsystems is the maker of the cable and when I went to their site they have no drivers available.I know the cable is older but at least the card reader had been working as of 9/20 which is the date of the last photo I downloaded. Microsoft released a cumulative update last month that caused some compatibility issues with both hardware and software. It might a similar case for you. Press Windows key + R Type: appwiz.cpl Hit Enter Click View installed updates Select the recent updateRight click it then click uninstall. Try uninstalling the update to see if it restores functionality. Press Windows key + R Type: appwiz.cpl Hit Enter Open View Installed Updates Right click the recently installed updates since this started happening Clickuninstall Restart your computer then check if you can use the device again.
If not, then, your options are either investing a new compatible device or downgrade to an older release of Windows 10 that supports it.Best, Andre Windows Insider MVP MVP-Windows and Devices for IT twitter/adacosta groovypost.com. Well I guess it is either a hardware or software error. I bought a Vivitar 50 in 1 card reader at Office Depot tonight.
I took it home, plugged in the compact flash and off we went. Pictures downloaded fine. It was only $10 so it wasn't badat all. But thank you for all your help. Even if Windows doesn't correct the compatibility issues at least I know this works.
I wish I could just use the card without the adapter but I guess if you are going to use outdated tech like a compact flash cardit only will work so easily for so long.
Question is:Is there a way to install WinXP to a Compact Flash card and make a computer use it as primary bootdisc?Card reader is available in Bios and is connected through onboard USB connector.Mobo supports Boot from USB.Problem is, how the. to make Xp to install on CF since it does'nt recognize any usb devises during install? And all of this WITHOUT any cf/ide adapters. Why? Just for fun, nothing else.!So if anyone knows how to do it. Please share your knowledge:nerd.
I dont think you can, xp restarts the usb controllers a few times throughout installation. You might be able to install to an HDD and do a drive copy to the compact flash card. Now i know you said no IDE to CF adapters, but lets be realistic here. They are $3 each, with FREE shipping.Heres another one which you can plug directly into your motherboard. Looks to be of higher quality too, but looks can be decieving on deal extreme.I'm not advertising the site or anything, and you cant expect to get a top quality product for 3$ free shipping. But even i used these before and they work fine.I used to use the 44pin to CF adapter the same one listed, for about a year before i found a 44IDE - 2x CF Hardware raid-0 adapter.
