Firewire And Usb Audio Driver Installer For Mac Os X
Hi Patrick. Thanks for posting! The Firewire 410 is a legacy product and will not be updated further for support on OS X 10.11. The last driver available was released in 2012 and only fully supports up to OS 10.7.We have discussed this issue in depth here on the forum and while I cannot provide a working driver for you, some users have been able to get it to work:Keep in mind, the unit may work initially but the mixer/control panel will not function properly and thus features will be limited. For these reasons, M-Audio cannot support this workaround, but you are free to proceed at your own risk.Let me know if you have any questions! I managed to get the Firewire 410 working on El Capitan (10.11.2)You have to disable the System Integrity Protection before it is recognised. You have to restart in Recovery mode ( Hold down 'CMD+R' on restart), open up the terminal and then type in 'csrutil disable'Then start up your computer normally.I was still unable to install the M-Audio drivers, but at least I am able to use the hardware again. Not sure why, but I'm not complaining. It is working in Logic Pro X for playback and recording.I have no issues with microphone inputs or midi input.
All the outputs seem to be working as well.I couldn't be happier.:DI hope this works for you as well. Here is an article on how to disable the System Integrity Protection, and why you should and shouldn't do it.All the best. Hi Johan,I hope this work-around is successful for you.It is a shame that this product is coming close to end of life. But, it is hard to find any devices that still use FireWire nowadays. Especially FireWire 400.I'm not looking forward to the day I upgrade my computer, as I am going to have to rethink my entire rig. That, or buy a bunch of adapters, or hubs, to get me through.I don't blame the developers for not supporting it any more.
It is just getting a bit long in the tooth. It is just a pity that such a good piece of kit is becoming outdated. The SIP is a security measure that Apple has put in to El Capitan. For most users it won't be an issue, and a great security boost for them.Unfortunately, we are the small percentage that gets affected.I hope this work-around is good for you.All the best. Frankly, I don't know why all the negative reviews. What's the problem?I've owned the FireWire 410 for two and a half years and it's been a joy. I've run it in 10.3.9 on a 933 G4 and currently in 10.4.5 on a Dual 2.3 G5. I use MIDI from a keyboard controller, analog IN from a guitar, mostly listen through headphones but occasionally send the signal line OUT to external powered speakers. On one early occasion launching Logic Express 7 resulted in a kernel panic, but then I was using the wrong drivers. The 410 is built rock solid and the feel of the controls is superb.

And although it's not my DAW, I'm happy to see that Pro Tools can now be run on M-Audio hardware. Hi all,i have had the 410 since it came out late 2003 about a week after i bought my g4 ibook,i had lots of core audio problems. So i emailed logic(thats when it was Emagic, any way- they said keep ur file directorys clean n as u know on a mac u go to utilities-then repair file permissions then verify, they also said keep up2date with lates os fixes.
It sort of helped but stillcore audio probs, which still ment it crashed when it wanted, days hours of work lost(had2 get the pc out!(PROPER PANTS) then m-audio sent me automated email there i found driver update not updates just1 and it worked 4 a bout 2 years,no core audio probs,it sorted out the 410sleep prob,no pops and clicks when sampling i never looked back.well its been a week since installed tiger and newer m-audio drivers so im now in the same life raft as u guys! I tryed to find that m-audio driver i downloaded,feb-2004,but it seems m-audio dont archive there drivers dam shame. I tell if had i would email u all. So-ps if any 1 has that drv-fix plaese put out on the web!
A WORD 2 M-AUDIO,COME BETTER THAN THAT!, COZ AT THE MO I WOULD NOT TOUCH ANY OF UR PRODUCTS,NOT OUT OF SPITE,BUT AVIOD A STESSFULL NIGHTMARE! MOST MUSCIANS JUST WANT2 GET ON WITH THE MUSIC NOT THE TECHNICAL CR-P.peace. All these reviews were very helpful. I was getting ready to purchase a used 410 from a friend on my PowerBook using Logic Pro 7. My laptop and hours dedicated to recording are too valuable to put up with these destructive issues. Thanks for the review!I'd welcome experienced information about what two mic pre interface to buy.
I want to keep the cost under $400 for this round and one that include midi I/O. I'll upgrade later. My budget limits my purchase! I'm looking at Presonnus' Firebox (the 2 mic pre version). Any feedback on this little baby, especially used on my mac with Logic Pro 7?
